Spring Thing

New Danville’s premier fundraising event, Spring Thing was held on April 22.

In the media:  Hello Woodlands, Woodlands Online, RFD TV, and more!

Photographs from the day

If you attended our Spring Thing last month you likely met Dave Clements, a volunteer since the beginning of ND. Dave is a professional photographer and also manages his own non-profit that helps children with a rare disorder called Rett syndrome. If you want to learn more, visit dwcphotography.com and www.Raisingahand.com

All indications are that the 2022 Spring Thing was our most successful such event. That achievement would not be possible without the support of our generous sponsors and supporters.

Fundraising Factoid
Field trips are some of the favorite activities for Wranglers. They go out in the community, visit cool venues and have new experiences. Trips to places like NASA, exhibitions, Lone Star Flight Museum, Moody Gardens, sailing and more become highlights of their year. These trips are only possible because of contributions from organizations or individuals. Please consider sponsoring a field trip for $1,500 or make a contribution of any amount toward field trip expenses. Simply note “field trips” with your online gift at https://newdanville.networkforgood.com/ or in your cover letter if submitting a check.

We are pleased to announce the completion of our first-ever annual report. It provides an overview of New Danville’s busy 2021 and a glimpse into what is on the horizon. We are proud of the great work of all the Wranglers and residents, the staff and volunteers, and our board to make the year as successful as it was.

We are pleased to announce the completion of our first-ever annual report. It provides an overview of New Danville’s busy 2021 and a glimpse into what is on the horizon. We are proud of the great work of all the Wranglers and residents, the staff and volunteers, and our board to make the year as successful as it was.

Wranglers line up to fill their water bottles at the new water-and-ice machine located in the Classroom Building. A new water station has been placed in the ETC Building, too, for the Wrangler IIs. The purchase of both machines was made possible by a grant from Montgomery County Community Foundation.  Thank you, Montgomery County Community Foundation.

Text System Improves Communications

New Danville is in the process of rolling out a texting system to inform families, caregivers, providers, and staff of important urgent information when needed. This will be used when we have close due to weather or other urgent/last-minute notices. This will be in addition to email, Facebook, and website updates. The Montgomery County Community Foundation continued its generous support of New Danville with a recent contribution of $5,000 to pay for an ice and water station in the Classroom Building and a water station in the ETC building. “Hydration is very important for everyone, but particularly so for adults with IDD,” said Eva Aguirre, President and CEO of New Danville. “We appreciate the Foundation’s recognition of how important accessible, easy-to-use hydration stations are to the health and wellness of our Wranglers.”

In the News – October 2021

You may have seen this article about New Danville and its upscale home décor store, Jazzy Junque, teaming together to help victims of Hurricane Ida. Not only do we thrive because of volunteer assistance, but we also give back by volunteering.

Please help us continue growing our culture of volunteerism. We desperately need volunteers at Jazzy Junque, particularly as we head into the holidays. Sales from Jazzy Junque play a significant role in New Danville’s budget as well as with increasing awareness in the community about New Danville.  JJ, as we call it, also employs some Wranglers.

The store has expanded a couple of times in recent years, now taking a significant space in the Outlets at Conroe shopping center on the south end.

For more information about volunteering at Jazzy Junque, please drop a note to info@JazzyJunque.org or contact Linda Deloache at 936-441-4500.
Thank you!

Volunteers Make it Happen!

Ivan Scheier, a legend in the field of volunteer management, said, “The broadest, and maybe the most meaningful definition of volunteering:  Doing more than you have to because you want to, in a cause you consider good.” The New Danville family is humbled by the number of people who consider us a cause worthy of their time, talent, and energy.

In recent months, New Danville had volunteers from Sterling Construction come out for their second visit within six months to help with painting the large lunchroom in bold, colorful patterns.  New Danville was also chosen as a Welcome Week volunteer opportunity for the students at Sam Houston State University who assisted with painting in our ECT Building shortly after returning to campus for the start of the fall semester. We are looking forward to the return of ExxonMobil volunteers who will help out in October.

Volunteers provide great relief to the human and financial resources of New Danville, but they also provide another important benefit: their engagement with our clients (Wranglers) provides a wonderful sense of normalcy and friendly socialization, which are very important in the life of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Thank you, volunteers!
